Port Promotes acting chief of Police to chief

"Tom Mylett Heads Port Corpus Christi Police Department".

Corpus Christi, Texas – Port Corpus Christi announced the promotion of its Acting Chief of Police Tom Mylett to chief of Police. chief Mylett will report directly to Frank Brogan, the Port's managing director.

In 2004, chief Mylett joined the Port of Corpus Christi Police Department as a police lieutenant, and he was appointed as Assistant Chief of Port Police in 2008. He has honorably served in that capacity since then. "Throughout his years at the port, Tom has proven the leadership skills needed to become the head of the Port Police Department. We have no doubt, Tom will continue directing the department as he has been doing for the last months as acting chief of police," said Judy Hawley, Chair of Port Corpus Christi Commission.

Tom Mylett was Honorably Discharged in 1981 from the U.S. Coast Guard after 8 years of service. Almost immediately thereafter, he joined the Corpus Christi Police Department, where he served for 23 years. He retired honorably in 2004, having served as patrol officer, field training officer, search & recovery dive team member, CID detective, undercover and vice enforcement investigator, patrol division lieutenant, and supervisor of the Vice/Narcotics night operations unit.

Chief Mylett is a 2006 graduate of the Sam Houston State University Bill Blackmore LEMIT Leadership Command College. Tom has been married to his wife, Tara, for nearly 30 years. They have a son who is a Texas A&M Corpus Christi graduate, and a daughter who will graduate high school this year. Chief Mylett’s interests are family, soccer, and music.
