New maritime training program offered in Marseilles beginning september 2008

CMA CGM is pleased to announce the creation of a new maritime training program in Marseilles starting in september 2008.

CMA CGM, France’s Affaires Maritimes, and the Armateurs de France association worked together on the creation of this program for professionals. In response to changing needs of ship owners, these courses are being added to the basic training offered by the National Merchant Navy Schools.

Graduates of the two-year program of study with the ENMM (National Merchant Navy School) in Marseilles will receive a state-recognized diploma leading to a deck officer certificate of competency after 12 months of navigation experience.

A third year, still to be added to the program, will prepare these students for the unlimited tonnage master’s license as part of an overall curriculum that is shorter than existing programs in France and more closely resembles programs in most other countries offering maritime training.

“In support of this new program, CMA CGM will be bringing 20 young graduates into the Group for their last year of training. This latest initiative comes in addition to the Group’s existing participation in multi-purpose officer training programs”, explains Thierry Billion, Senior Vice President Human Resources.

As CMA CGM strengthens its partnership with the National Merchant Navy School in Marseilles, it continues to reaffirm its commitment to employing French officers.

Admission files available at www.hydro-marseille.com.Admission deadline: may 31.
