IDB approves US$1.6 million to support the implementation of Jamaica’s Medium Term Action Plan to Manage for Results

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved today a technical cooperation for US$1.6 million that will assist the Government of Jamaica in the implementation of its medium term action plan to improve performance management, monitoring and evaluation capacity of the public sector.

The funds will help improve efficiency and effectiveness in the utilization of public resources by completing the process of adoption of modern financial and planning systems; and enhance accountability for the production of results.

“The IDB is committed to improve development effectiveness in its member states,” said IDB team leader Gonzalo Afcha. “With the implementation of this medium term action plan, Jamaican authorities expect government interventions and activities to be better-prioritized, more focused on the objectives of modernization and better communicated . In addition accountability mechanisms will be enhanced to better monitor and evaluate government institutional performance.”

The Government of Jamaica will contribute the equivalent of US$160,000 as counterpart funds.
